Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Game Cancellations.  To receive text alerts for game cancellations, Text KPBALERTS to 84483.
  2. After online registration closes or a division reaches the max number of players, players can be registered for Waitlists. Wait list is on a first come, first serve basis. Your spot is not guaranteed. If you are accepted from the wait list, you will be notified via email.
  3. Parents can make requests for team assignments with other players or coaches. The league makes every attempt to honor such requests but cannot guarantee those assignments.
  4. Spring season tryouts are for evaluation only and all players are assigned to a team.  Any player new who was not on a Kempsville Pony Baseball (KPB) team the previous spring, or any player moving up to the next age league must attend one of the two scheduled tryouts for their spring division.  There are no tryouts for 06U Shetland division.  Colt tryouts are not until late April/early May.
  5. Our younger 06U Shetland division spring season starts 1 - 2 weeks later than our other leagues.
  6. There are no tryouts for our fall season.  Players are assigned to teams by a "blind draft".
  7. The day and time for team practices will be established by team managers and are not known until after the player drafts.
  8. Spring season games are scheduled for weeknights and on Saturdays with make-up games on Sundays when needed.  Fall season games are played on Saturdays.
  9. Each of our divisions has mandatory playing time rules.
  10. 14U Pony division weeknight games are single 8:00 pm games so as not to conflict with Middle School baseball practices and games.
  11. Players who register for the Pony division and subsequently make their High School varsity or JV teams have the option of playing up in our older 16U Colt division.
  12. Our 16U Colt spring season does not begin until after the High School JV season is complete.
  13. KPB league boundaries apply only for PONY baseball all-star team tournament competition. Players can register with KPB and play on all other teams whether they reside officially within our boundaries or not.
  14. Players residing in the former Indian River Pony boundary area who register with KPB are now eligible to play all-stars.
